Happy Holidays to all the Gilmore families!

Though we cannot all be together for our traditional pancake breakfast in the gym, the kids will still be served McDonald’s pancakes in their classes, get to dress up in their pajamas and maybe even get a visit from Santa on Friday, Dec 17th.  We hope the kids enjoy their day!

Gifts for Seniors

Seniors from Seton Villa, waving at a few of our Gilmore students

We are still accepting Senior gifts and stocking stuffers for Seton Villa Residents until Dec. 16th.

If any families are interested in specific wish list details for one of the 25 residents who don’t have family or close connections, please contact Marcy at chair@gilmorecouncil.ca

We hope everyone has a fantastic holiday break.

Warm regards,

Gilmore Council Executives

Fundraiser + Gift Donations

Heights Coffee Holiday Gift Box Fundraiser

Together with our friends at the Heights Coffee Company, we’ve come up with some great holiday gift options for Gilmore families. Partial proceeds from all sales will be donated to our Community Council in support of our students and to the Community Office in support of the families participating in the Gilmore Cares program. All orders will be made through School Cash Online.

Gift Boxes will be delivered to your child at school on the following designated dates:

  • Orders received by November 29 will be delivered December 1
  • Orders received by December 13 will be delivered December 15
  • No orders will be accepted after December 13

The Angel Project

The Angel Project is a Burnaby-wide toy drive. It is a way for the community to support the Burnaby Christmas Bureau by collecting toys and gifts at schools and in the workplace.

At Gilmore Community School we have received 150 decorative angel themed cards with the various ages of elementary school children written on each one. They will be hung on a Christmas tree by the main office or in front of the kindergarten classrooms. Families and school staff are encouraged to “Be an Angel” by picking up a card and buying a gift appropriate for the age of the child on the card.

Bring the new, unwrapped toy or gift to school (along with the tag) and place it under either tree sometime before December 10.

Every donated gift will be given to a child in need.

Connected to this will be an opportunity to purchase a gift for a senior-in-need at Seton Villa Retirement Centre.

Please select the special yellow and red cards on the trees in the school, if you would like to purchase a gift for one of our seniors. Please have your child bring the gift for a senior by Dec. 16th.

Apple Fundraiser

Hello Gilmore Community Parents and Guardians,

We want to make sure this school year is more fruitful than ever, so we are very pleased to announce that this year we will be running an exciting new Fall fundraiser.

We have partnered up with a distinguished Okanagan orchard to sell their delicious farm‐fresh apples. This century‐old farm has won many major awards for their fruit.

Each box sold will contribute either $8 or $10 to our treasury, which will be so helpful for our school.

You can find out more by clicking this link:

https://fundraising.sunokafruit.com/s/gilmoreelementaryschool

The fundraiser runs from Sept. 14th to 30th.

Please consider participating in this fundraiser. This is a fresh and healthy fundraiser and at a very good price, that you can be proud of offering to your friends and family.

Together with your support we can make a positive and lasting improvement to our children’s learning environment – and that is, indeed, a fruitful contribution.

Thank you,

Gilmore Community School PAC

Gilmore Supports the Burnaby Christmas Bureau and Seniors at Seton Villa

“Thanks for your support with your fabulous toy drive [and] wonderful contributions to our Christmas Bureau!” ~ Burnaby Community Services

We had an amazing response to this year’s Angel Project (gifts for children through the Burnaby Christmas Bureau) and our new local initiative, Be a Santa to a Senior at Seton Villa. With all of the gifts collected, we were able to pass on over 130 gifts to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau and over 60 presents to our seniors. In addition, we also delivered personalized cards from classes addressed to individual seniors at Seton Villa. This greatly exceeded our initial goal of ensuring that all seniors at Seton Villa without families would get at least one gift. We cannot thank everyone enough for their kindness and generosity! Thank you, Gilmore Community for making it all happen!!

“I received the packages yesterday and from the bottom of my heart thank you SO much for all do the hard work that went into this from the kids and organizers. And what a fantastic idea Marcy for the names! I’m so glad we did that because we’ve never had personalized letters before and it’s just going to be so extra special. I’ll be sure to take lots of pic-tures when we distribute. Thank you so much again, Alexis” ~ Seton Villa Retirement Centre
